2024 winner – Sameer Raja

Last year, Sameer fell 3 points short of Bobby Gadhia’s haul of 40 to take second place.

But this year – on a tough course where the green’s didn’t exactly hold up – Sameer’s total of 37 was enough to get him the top prize!

It’s been a year in the making it seems, but sports all-rounder Sameer drove, chipped and putted his way to the winning total and deservedly took his place at the pinnacle.

Can Sameer become one of the first to retain his title during next year’s event? Only time will tell. Congratulations Sameer!

Tonight's entertainment

Last year, Reithy swooned the clubhouse with his magical melodies, supported by Vincent on the keyboards.

This year, you’ll be captivated by the ingenious intonations of Noel Ndereti – one of Nairobi’s most popular artists.

His reverberating vocals will be accompanied by a classic three-piece set up and he’ll take you away with a selection of beautiful ballads.

Noel is on from 6.30 PM and Adnan Sami’s lucky not to be in town this time…

Dennis returns

Dennis “Gandaboy” Irumba stole the show at last year’s event, with his own take on the classic Old Fashioned and a killer gin and tonic.

Back by popular demand, Dennis and his crew will be at the bar back, whipping up some new concoctions in addition to the two tasties he brought on stage the last time.

Grab a drink chez Dennis from 6.30 PM tonight.

Brothers-in-yards: the evolution of the Lohana Golfing Society

What started with a handful of golfing enthusiasts, bonding over a pint and their favourite past-time has evolved into a magnanimous occasion of competitive brilliance, where aficionado and rookie come together in a celebration of sport and brotherhood.

On 14 July 2023, 128 guests and members graced the meandering fairways of one of Nairobi’s most prestigious courses, all bidding to take home the top prize.

But the real winners were the members of the Lohana Golfing Society: who once again managed to draw out the numbers across the handicap spectrum to partake in the event.

Here’s to many more putt-kicking days of fun in the sun!
